BSKY Nabin Card 2024
In the lead-up to the 2024 elections, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took a major step on Friday by significantly increasing the reach of the state’s well-regarded Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) health insurance program to encompass more than 90% of the population. Initially, BSKY provided free services at government healthcare facilities to everyone, irrespective of their place of residence or income level. The second phase introduced cashless medical treatment options in private hospitals.
The program currently enables 1.3 lakh individuals to receive cashless care at private hospitals, while over 45 lakh people benefit from free healthcare services at public facilities run by the state every month. This translates to Rs 260 crore being spent each month in private hospitals that are part of the network. Over the past five years, BSKY has provided cashless medical services worth over Rs 4,500 crore to around 21 lakh patients in private hospitals alone.
